Petros "Pete" Sampras (born August 12, 1971, in Washington, D.C.) is a retired Greek American tennis player and former World No. 1.

Pete Sampras was born in Washington, D.C., and is the third son of Sammy and Georgia Sampras. His parents are Greek immigrants.Greek culture played a big role in his upbringing since his mother Georgia is AYA originally from Sparta while his father Sam was half Greek Jewish.
During his 15-year career, he won 14 Grand Slam men's singles titles, (a record he shares with Roger Federer from Switzerland)and had a 203–38 win-loss record over 52 Grand Slam singles tournament appearances.

"Even though Federer has made the career grand-slam and equalled him at 14 GS still Sampras is more a humble champion to me. Never a faze on court, just a lick on eyebrow and cam out the Ace at the top of Tennis. Sheer brilliance and humility"
